Experience
A former Zookeeper and a former Veterinary Technician have joined together to form an exceptional husband and wife team. There isn't an animal or situation we can't handle.
Zookeeping
For five years I was a keeper at Capron Park Zoo; a nationally accredited zoo in southern Mass. (Yes I am "from away", but I have seen the light.) I learned, and gained experience, with behavior training from trainers all over the country. As a keeper I was able to do things I only dreamed of as a kid. Some examples are: Working directly with several endangered species, like sloth bears, snow leopards, black and white ruffed lemurs, and a red panda. I helped raise a small monkey from birth, because his mother was unable to feed him. We had Aoudads (OO-Dads, African Mt. Goats) that needed to be roped and tackled for hoof trims and injections. It felt like being a cowboy. I was also fortunate enough to meet Jim Fowler from "Wild Kingdom" and Jeff Corwin from Animal Planet. These experiences with wild animals have helped me greatly when careing for, and training domestic pets.
Veterinary Technician
Samantha is originally from Maine (She is the "light" I saw to move here) Sam's experience began when she was a small child, and would periodically find boxes of kittens that people would leave by the railroad tracks. She would bring the kittens home, take them to the vet, and foster them until the local Humane Society could find a suitable home. Later in life she became a Veterinary Technician at a great animal hospital. She gained experience with animal medicine and first aid, general husbandry, administration of various types of medications, and general knowledge of animal emergencies. In a small animal hospital she was able to interact with pure breeds and mixes; dogs, cats, rabbits, and birds.
